Turkey has successfully launched the satellite FGN-100-D2, marking a significant step within the global “Alog B” project, which aims to establish an independent navigation and positioning system, free from reliance on foreign systems such as the U.S. GPS and Russian GLONASS.

Objectives of the national “Alog B” project:

  • Launch over 100 Turkish satellites in the next five years to establish a comprehensive navigation system serving Turkey and friendly and allied countries.
  • Reduce reliance on foreign systems in positioning and space communications, while strengthening Turkey’s technological sovereignty in space.
  • Support civil, military, and economic sectors through precise space services that enhance national security and meet 21st-century standards.

Details of the satellite “FGN-100-D2”:
The new satellite was entirely developed in Turkey by Fergani, a company founded by Selçuk Bayraktar, one of the country’s leading aerospace and aviation technology pioneers.

  • It orbits the Earth at a speed of 7.6 kilometers per second.
  • It completes approximately 15 full orbits around the Earth daily.
  • It weighs only 104 kilograms, making it a lightweight, highly efficient satellite.
  • It features advanced electronic flight systems and control software, along with an environmentally friendly structure and propulsion engine.
  • All of its components were entirely manufactured locally at the Bayraktar National Technology Center laboratories.

A Turkish Step Toward “Space Sovereignty”
The launch of this satellite is not merely a technical event but a clear message that Turkey has entered a new phase in the global space race.
Through the “Alog B” project, Ankara aims to transform from a technology-consuming country into a technology-exporting nation, particularly in the fields of navigation, communications, and space sensing.
Experts emphasize that this step is one of the most important indicators of Turkey’s technological renaissance, especially as it seeks to establish advanced infrastructure supporting projects in aviation, security, smart transportation, and artificial intelligence.

Between technology, innovation, and national independence, Turkey continues to chart its path toward the future with confidence.
Just as it has developed the real estate sector and smart infrastructure, its efforts now extend to space, demonstrating that the Turkish renaissance is comprehensive and spans all fields: from major real estate projects to advanced satellites.
These scientific leaps provide investors with additional confidence in Turkey’s future economy, showing that investing in Turkey is not merely purchasing property, but investing in a country advancing with scientific and technological strides toward global prominence.
